What is Industrial Revolution 4.0 actually?

By | blog | No Comments

“Industrial Revolution 4.0″ is taking place in many developed countries. It gives mankind the opportunity to change the face of the economy, but there are many unpredictable risks.

In the past few months, the concept of “Industrial Revolution 4.0″ has been widely talked about in the media and social networks. Along with that is the promise of “life changing” of businesses in Vietnam if our country can catch up the wave. Therefore, how should this revolution be understood?

Definition of Industrial Revolution 4.0

Industrial Revolution 4.0

Industrial Revolution 4.0

According to Gartner, the Industrial Revolution 4.0 (or the Fourth Industrial Revolution) comes from the “Industrie 4.0″ concept in a German government report in 2013. “Industrie 4.0″ connects embedded systems and intelligent manufacturing facilities to create digital convergence between the Industry, Business, functions and internal processes.

If the Gartner definition is confusing, Klaus Schwab, founder and president of the World Economic Forum, gives a simpler view of the Industrial Revolution 4.0:

“The first industrial revolution utilized water and steam power to mechanize production. The second revolution took place through the use of electricity for mass production. The third revolution uses electronics and information technology to automate production. Now, the Fourth Industrial Revolution is flourishing from the third revolution that combines technologies together, blurring the boundaries between physics, digital and biology. ”

According to Klaus Schwab, the breakthrough speed of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 is “without precedent”. Compared to previous industrial revolutions, 4.0 is evolving under an exponential rather than linear speed. Moreover, it is breaking most of the industry in every country. And the breadth and depth of these changes signal the transformation of the entire production, management and administration system.

How will the Industry Revolution 4.0 work?

Followed by the definition of Klaus Schwab, the Industry Revolution 4.0 will take place on three main areas: Biotechnology, Digital and Physics.

The core elements of Digital in Industry Revolution 4.0 will be: AI, Internet of Things (IoT) and Big Data.

In the field of biotechnology, the Industrial Revolution 4.0 focuses on research to create leaps in agriculture, fisheries, medicine, food processing, environmental protection, renewable energy, chemistry and materials.

Finally, the field of physics with new robots, 3D printers, self-driving cars, new materials (graphene, skyrmions …) and nanotechnology.

Currently the Industry Revolution 4.0 is taking place in developed countries like USA, Europe and part of Asia. In addition to the new opportunities, the industrial revolution 4.0 also pose challenges for mankind to face.

Opportunities along with global risks and challenges

The downside of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 is that it can cause inequality. Especially can break the labor market. When automation replaces manual labor in the economy, when robots replace people in many areas, millions of workers around the world may fall into unemployment, especially those who work in the field of insurance, real estate brokerage, financial consulting, transportation.

The report of the World Economic Forum has raised this issue at different stages. The first stage will be the challenge for office workers, intellectuals, technical workers. The next stage will be cheap labor, which may be slower. With the movement of this revolution, in the next 15 years the world will have a new face, requiring businesses to change.

Then, the economic turmoil that has arisen from the Industrial Revolution will lead to life insecurity. Its implications will be political instability. If governments do not understand and fully prepare for the 4.0 industry wave, the risk of global instability is entirely possible.

In addition, changes in the way people communicate on the Internet put people at risk for financial health. Personal information, if not safely protected, can lead to undesirable consequences.

The 4th Industrial Revolution brings opportunity, and also challenges for humanity.

Opus deployed document management system for Vinasoy

By | blog | No Comments

Recently, Opus met and signed a contract with Vinasoy for the purpose of implementing the document management system for their business.

Since moving to the sustainable development stage so far, Vietnam Soybean Milk Company -Vinasoy has gradually affirmed the prestige of quality through standard products and is trusted by consumers. Typically, awards and merit certificates have been awarded successively over the past five years as golden imprints motivating the company to make even more effort to deserve the trust of consumers. As the business grows, the number of documents are getting heavier, requiring Vinasoy to have a tool to manage their data more easily.

In today’s digital technology 4.0, applying technology to the mechanisms of operation in each organization is extremely necessary to minimize the amount of work but still optimize the efficiency. Moreover, the introduction of management software into organizations and businesses will also help to build a systematic organization that promotes consistency and accuracy. Understanding this concern, Opus has developed a document management system to help Vinasoy reduce costs, time, and improve productivity.

Document management system of Opus allows users to store large amounts of documents with just one software system, so the “virtual” area that they provide will help organizations and businesses save and store up to millions of different records and documents. Compared to the traditional way of archiving, which causes many errors such as corrupted documents, duplicate files, false information, but the time has passed so long that it is difficult to find and repair, … But all these problems will be resolved thoroughly by the document managment system in managing a large number of files and documents. This is to help organizations and businesses eliminate large archives and instead put the data onto a computer system for easier and more efficient management.

Besides, if you want to find a profile or any other document in the past, using traditional archiving methods will be difficult. Its will be a waste of time to find documents on each bookshelf, while using the archiving software, just a few clicks, some keywords and you can easily find the document you are looking for. Moreover, the software will divide the documents into branches and aggregate into the system, helping the agencies and organizations to consistently keep track of their documentation.

When traditional methods are used extensively, agencies often have to spend a lot of money on space, materials and other basic costs to maintain archives. But with the software system, these costs will be crossed out and replaced by software costs, but it will save a lot more than the cost of traditional storage.

Last but not least, document management system is built on the basis of computerization of data, so they also provide organizations and enterprises with security methods by building login systems using accounts. This will prevent businesses or organizations from leaking data or losing documents as they use traditional methods.

Opus has implemented the document management system for Vinasoy and the system has been in operation since November 2018.

What do state and business agencies do in the digital transformation?

The seminar “Digital Transformation: Opportunities and Challenges” provided visitors with an overview and targets that we have to face in 4th industrial revolution.

On November 1, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Digital Media Association organized a seminar on “Transformation: Opportunities and Challenges” to provide an overview on the situation of digital transformation in 4th industrial revolution in Vietnam, and outlines the specific objectives that state agencies, as well as businesses and citizens need to capture.

Opening speech at the seminar, Mr. Nguyen Minh Hong, Vice Minister of MIC, President of Vietnam Association of Small and Medium Enterprises emphasized the importance of digital transformation at the present. “Vietnam is not standing out of the 4th industrial revolution in the world, and all sectors and industries need to change in order to be able to adapt to the development of technology,” said the minister.

“Digital transformation is no longer the business of any organization or business, but all of them must accept the change, and if they do not change, they will be left behind, and may threaten to their existance, “Vice Minister Nguyen Minh Hong said.

What is the concept of a digital transformation?

At the seminar, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phuc, Head of the Department of Informatics – Ministry of Information and Communication gave a speech on the process of digital transformation, starting right from the concept that is still confused by the name.

Knowing only the name of the digital transformation, but the world has a lot of concepts. For example, according to Gartner, digital transformation is the use of technology to change the business model, creating new opportunities and revenues. As for Microsoft, they have come up with the concept of digital transformation: rethinking how people organize data, and processes, to create new values.

Digital transformation is a holistic and comprehensive change involving the fields of life, society, changing the way we live, work, interact with each other.

After studying many different concepts, Nguyen Thanh Phuc said that digital transformation must first be associated with clear objects, people, businesses, and government agencies.

Particularly people, digital transformation is the process that changes the way we live, work, trade with one another. For businesses, digital transformation is the use of digital technologies and data to change the business model, change the process of providing products and services, create new products and services. For state agencies, digital transformation is the process of changing people’s experience with the services provided by the state, changing the process, model and mode of operation of state agencies.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phuc also evaluates the process of digital transformation that is happening in Vietnam, only that it lacks a comprehensive approach, complete in terms of a country.

What should state agencies do in the digital transformation?

In terms of state agencies, adaptation and change in 4th industrial revolution play a decisive role in the success of the process.

At the seminar, Nguyen Thanh Phuc said, “The urgency of digital transformation is reflected in a study conducted in 2017 by Microsoft that said the process brought about a 6% increase in GDP.”

“Based on many other studies, we can see that countries that are interested in digital transformation can achieve over 5%, and if we do not care then we are still at a normal level,” said Nguyen Thanh Phuc.

For state agencies, according to Nguyen Thanh Phuc, the goal and challenge is to switch from a closed data system to open data, to create a data sharing connection.  This serves as a precondition for promoting digital transformation of the enterprises, as well as for the people to be convenient.

“Just when I was in Singapore, I found that they used the user data submitted for urban transport planning. For example, which area is densely populated, and which ones often have traffic jam, … from which to implement measures such as arranging how many buses in a residential area is reasonable”.

In addition, when implementing digital transformation, state agencies must also use a data analysis system, possibly from AI, to digitize input sources so its no longer depend on administrative documents.

“As a result, we will eliminate many unnecessary intermediary steps, contributing to the speed and effectiveness of this activity.”

What about businesses?

Digital transformation also contribute to increased productivity, and according to Nguyen Thanh Phuc, this is a factor that Vietnam always pay attention. “We are developing at a lower productivity than the average GDP growth of the country”.

For business objects, the digital transformation as presented, is summarized as the transition from a traditional business model to a digital business model. Typical examples are car reservation services, online car rental, hotel reservations, or e-commerce units.

For some businesses, digital transformation can be understood as the application of integrated chips on the product from which to put into the IoT cycle. In addition, digital transformation is also a transition from traditional production processes to data modeling and robotics, AI.

“In the near future, we will see factories that have no more workers,” said Nguyen Thanh Phuc, “This is something that can be done when robots become more popular and cheaper.”

Apart from the practical and urgent objectives for the two main subjects, government agencies and enterprises in the digital transformation, The seminar also recorded many contributions, sharing about experiences from speakers and guests of the event.

The seminar agreed with the view that Vietnam is indeed facing a great opportunity to be in line with major countries, but it is accompanied by real challenges for all, from the people, businesses, to the goverment.

Are managers ready for digital transformation in their business?

By | blog | No Comments

Digital innovation is a top priority for managers and is also an important factor for businesses worldwide to better compete and achieve future goals.

In fact, businesses in all industries have benefited tremendously from digitization.

What to do to digitize business?
What digital solutions are needed for businesses today?
How to invest in IT infrastructure for both saving and efficiency?

Understanding these concern, Opus Solution is hornored to collaborate with Microsoft & Softline to organize the event: “What do managers need to digitize their business?

In the trend of integration today, the “digitization” in management will help businesses save costs, time, personnel, to increase competitiveness and maximize profits. On this basis, the promotion of information technology (IT) has been identified as an important factor. Enterprise investment in technology is necessary, almost mandatory, to shorten work time, increase control over work, limit risk, and thereby increase competitiveness. However, businesses need to determine their goals, needs and capabilities to equip appropriate solutions and avoid waste. The problem of investment cost for technology should be considered thoroughly by the leaders for optimal efficiency.

In a challenging market economy, in order to improve its competitiveness, enterprises must strive to improve the management process in order to make the most use of resources. Especially for large corporations, controlling resources for managers is very important.

In the “flat world” trend, information is the key asset of the business. Opportunity to get information in the fastest, most accurate way will be the key to the success of the business. The application of software solutions to the management of business operations of the business becomes the optimal solution to address that need.

The software will help managers to get accurate and timely information on the performance of enterprises through statistical tools, analysis and ability to retrieve and search with data arising in real time.

With the economy growing steadily, the scale of many businesses is expanding, which means the increased complexity of the professionals for all departments from business, marketing, project, finance – accounting. , administrative personnel … This is also a big difficulty when many companies have specific problems of the industry. By each area, each business has different characteristics that require different management requirements.

However, in practice, in many Vietnamese enterprises, the application of technology for management is still very limited. Many surveys conducted on the application of technology in management and production of enterprises have shown that many business leaders are not fully aware of the role of technology and do not incorporate digital applications with the restructuring of production, business and management innovation.

Therefore, this event is considered as a place where experts have exchanged views on their expertise in applying digital technology to business in Vietnam, recognizing the challenges and identifying the opportunities offered by digital transformation.

In addition, Opus Solution, as a Microsoft partner, had a opportunity to introduce to Vietnamese enterprises the solution based on Microsoft technology to help businesses: improve digital workflow; analyze and evaluate real-time business indicators and improve sales performance. More prominently is the Tasken solution being developed by Opus Solution.

Can technology replace human?

By | blog | No Comments

The 4th industrial revolution is slowly changing the way we live; artificial intelligence and automation gradually replace human in many jobs. This is an opportunity but also a big challenge for technology companies.

business process automation

Automation and artificial intelligence are growing minute by minute

We are living in the most turbulent times, when automation and artificial intelligence (AI) are completed and developed minute by minute. Most recently, AI made people startled by winning the world chess champion and another AI even made a hair cut appointment after a long conversation.

Amazon has more than 100,000 robots working in warehouses around the world. In the near future, the company plans to replace all employees performing repetitive tasks with robots. At Foxconn, which manufactures equipment for Apple, Samsung and Microsoft, has replaced 60,000 workers with robots. The company expects to automate all of its repetitive tasks.

A paper published by points out that automation and new technologies are changing the nature of many jobs, as well as creating new jobs that have never existed before. The MCKinsey Global Institute (MGI) predicts that if automation becomes the focus of the revolution, about 15 percent of global workforce equivalent to 400 million workers will be replaced by 2030. However, new careers in the digital age are expected to require a new workforce of between 8 and 9%.

In practice in Vietnam, we have implemented many administrative procedures over the Internet instead of directly go to the administrative agencies, for booking cars through smart applications such as Grab, Goviet or other services. This is also the same when we mention about online banking.

Technology will certainly go far, but it is hard to replace human in particular jobs

Technology experts have confirmed that in many industries, the machine can never replace humans in the future. Similarly, not all interactions can be made mechanically if the main goal is to provide a personalized and interactive customer experience. Machines can perform repetitive and basic tasks but can not provide in-depth technical knowledge. Therefore, those companies that focus on deep technical support and excellent product expertise and customer experience will continue to thrive.

As a technology support service provider, Opus Solution has always identified people and technology that can perfectly match with each other. Technology plays a supporting role, providing timely data, helping employees serve customers around the world better. Relying on technology, the technical staff easily communicates with customers and supports them effectively on experiences that can not be replaced by machines or robots.

Opus Solution provide solutions such as: Microsoft Azure, SharePoint, Cloud that related to business processes, helping them in data digitalization, Process automation, improve the quality of work for the business. At present, we are developing a new solution, called Tasken, to assist enterprises in processes such as KPI management, proposed system, budget management, …
